Heroin - Discography (1997)

Heroin were an awesome screamy hardcore from San Diego who formed in 1989, thusly predating 99.9% of the absurdity of the late 90's screamo plague. These dudes were more in league with bands like Angel Hair, Moss Icon and Mohinder than any of the white-belt garbage that spawned from these earlier acts, and this discography is something I still find myself reaching for every now and again when the mood strikes me. I'm not sure how many people really give a fuck about bands like Heroin these days, but I always appreciated them for being noisy and discordant without being obnoxious, "heavy" without relying on generic chugging, and emotive without crying between every song. Fans of Honeywell, Swing Kids, Antioch Arrow will already know all about this, everyone else can just call me an "emo fag" in the comments. See if I care.

  7. I randomly heard some Heroin on Youtube a few months ago. Had my mind blown, bookmarked it, and then forgot to return. Thanks for the reminder! Downloading now. Were you ever into a band called One Eyed God? Also early screamo, but with sort of a crust vibe. It even sounds like an alternate path early black metal could have taken. Believe that's how I came across Heroin....

  8. One Eyed God Prophecy from Canada? HUGE fan of them really dark and brooding metalcore/screamo. Easily one of my favorite bands from the era. I did a post on them a while back:

    Thanks for checking in, dude.

    1. Of course! Nice to officially "meet" you. TLD rules. Very cool that you'd already written on One Eyed God. I was waiting to track down a physical copy but fuck it, I just dl'ed it for now. That live footage is sick, and the contrast between the music and their clothes is hysterical.
